As President I received this email and am posting it here for your information. Representatives of PLPNA and a concerned neighbor met with Alison and other parties from the SFPUC recently and were given a detailed map with the intended project. They are bypassing and replacing a portion of the existing pipe due to instability. This is a pretty big project starting from behind the houses on Crestlake down the hill and across the Grove, linking up with the existing water pipe. Many trees will be cut down to provide better access. Public notices will be mailed out soon to the neighbors immediately affected by this work. We will keep you informed as well.
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is proposing some upgrade work on our San Andrea Pipeline No. 2 which runs behind homes along Crestlake Drive and into Stern Grove. The work is isolated to a single location behind 100 – 94 Crestlake Drive (with access from Vale Avenue). Given this proposed activity in your neighborhood, we would like to provide an overview of the project to you and perhaps another board member of the Pine Lake Park Neighborhood Association within the next month. Construction would not be occurring until late this year (after the Stern Grove Festival), and is not expected to be of long duration.
This is an essential maintenance project to ensure the reliable operation of our water pipelines – but we recognize it will be in your neighborhood, so we would like to meet and discuss this with a small group in advance of further outreach. Once we have a chance to meet with you, we will be providing more general updates to the community via mail.
Thank you –
